Morning all (or should I say “Buenos días a todos” ….probably not given we are barely out of the English Channel!)
It’s is Day two and we are on our way to Spain! I have managed to scratch a tiny bit of phone signal if I stand in a particular way in a particular spot huddled in to a corner out on the top deck in the very windy and cold outdoors so thought I would try and give a short blog update.
After what ended up being a longer than expected and slightly more stressful and dramatic day yesterday it was a blessed relief to roll straight onto our ferry and our cabin (which is best described as “bijoux and functional”) with no delays or drama. Once settled and cleaned up we spent a short while in the bar but decided quite quickly we had had more than enough of the cabaret “Music by David” (it was the third rendition of Delilah that sealed the deal). It was made all the more awkward because we seem to be the only people here and so after about 20 minutes we made our excuses and left. …there was far too much eye contact from David for my liking!
I feel like we have earnt a good nights sleep and to be fair the “bijoux” cabin and bunk beds provided. We head down for some breakfast (I did take a photo of it which I will share here but I steadfastly refuse to mention the sausage ….if indeed that is what is was!)
Quick sidebar ….important when packing your toiletries to make sure you are prioritising in the right way and for those of you that may not know….this is exactly the right ratio of toothpaste to savlon!
Today so far has mostly been spent exploring the ship (which took all of 10 minutes) checking out tomorrow’s route (and the places we may wish to avoid!) and learning new card games. We have settled on “Egyptian Rat Screw“ (nope me either) which ChatGPT describes as “equal parts skill and reflex -induced betrayal”….not too sure about that or indeed what it even means but it whiles away some time (there is a lot to be “whiled”) and does help the Gin (which it goes without saying is very much needed!) go down.
Will leave it there for now and have a go at uploading (not a euphemism!) ….wish me luck!
